The Anambra State Government has sealed off a church in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area, over alleged involvement in “Okeite” ritual practices.

The church, led by Pastor Onyebuchi Okocha, also known as Onyeze Jesus, was shut down following public complaints and a viral video showing the pastor admitting to performing controversial rituals.

Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, led the team that enforced the closure. He stated that while the government respects religious freedom, it will not tolerate exploitative practices.

Authorities have seized liquid substances found at the church for forensic testing and plan to analyze the waters of “River Bethsaida”, allegedly used for questionable rituals. The government is urging the public to report any harmful religious activities as investigations continue
