Cabinet Reshuffle: Governor Umo Eno Swears in New EXCO

Governor Eno expressed optimism that the new cabinet, with its blend of experience and dedication, will effectively implement policies that foster growth and transformation in Akwa Ibom State.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has appointed 23 new commissioners and a special adviser.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House in Uyo, where the governor emphasized the importance of loyalty and experience in driving the “ARISE Agenda”, a policy thrust of his administration.

The cabinet reshuffle follows the recent dissolution of the State executive council by Governor Umo Eno. Notably, all but one of the appointees previously served under former Governor Udom Emmanuel, underscoring a commitment to continuity and leveraging seasoned expertise.

The Governor described the move as crucial to initiate fresh perspectives into his administration. He, however, clarified that the gesture was not a reflection of the former commissioners’ performance, rather, a strategic step to maintain momentum in the state’s development initiatives. Among the newly appointed officials are: Dr. Nsikan Nkan, Commissioner of Finance; Sir Charles Udoh, Commissioner of Culture & Tourism; Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, Commissioner of Education; Prof. Eno Ibanga, Commissioner of Works and Fire Service; Mrs. Enobong Mbobo, Commissioner for Water Resources & Sanitation.

Also, Uko Essien Udom, SAN serves as Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice; Prof. Imoh Moffat serves as Commissioner of Science & Technology; Gen. Koko Essien (Rtd.) as Commissioner of Internal Security.

Others are Hon. Orman Esin, Commissioner of Transport; Comrade Ini Ememobong, Commissioner of Information; Capt. Iniobong Ekong (Rtd.), Commissioner of Lands; Dr. (Mrs.) Offiong Offor, Commissioner of Agriculture and Rural Development; Mr. Emem Bob, Commissioner of Economic Development; and Prof. Augustine Umoh, serving as Commissioner of Health.
