Police Officer Allegedly Commits Suicide in Port Harcourt

A serving officer with the Nigerian Police, identified as Inspector, has allegedly taken his own life.

According to reports, Zabu, who was known to many as a dedicated officer, in the early hours of Tuesday 22 April, allegedly shot himself in his room under circumstances that remain unclear.

Until his death, he served as an orderly and close aide to Hon. Victor Ihunwo, the former Mayor of Port Harcourt.

NigerDelta Times learnt that the deceased boss, Hon. Ihunwo treated the late Inspector as a brother, a bond that remained strong even after the mayor left office.

Zabu was well-regarded by his colleagues and community, with many expressing shock and sorrow over the incident.

As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command was yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
